We are a nation of pet lovers and 20th February is 'Love Your Pet Day'. A moment to celebrate all the things we love best about our furry (as well as feathered and scaly) friends! Pets make us laugh, cheer us up when we’re feeling at our worst, help provide routine and a sense of purpose, as well as giving us unconditional love.

According to the pdsa

  • 51% of UK adults own a pet
  • 26% of UK adults have a cat with an estimated population of 12 million pet cats
  • 24% of the UK adult population have a dog with an estimated population of 10.1 million pet dogs
  • 2% of the UK adult population have a rabbit with an estimated population of 1 million pet rabbits

And pet ownership is proven to be good for our health. Pet owners tend to have lower blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels than people who don't own a pet. Pets help lower your stress levels, decrease feelings of loneliness. They also remind us to find joy in the small things in life and live in the moment.

Here at More Than Just A Gift, we love our animals. Meet Nixie, our Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who comes to work with us every day. She is an absolute charmer and has certainly perfected those puppy dog eyes! She loves a fuss and can always find a lap to sit on. Although she’s very active, Nixie can be a little bit of a princess, she loves having her hair brushed and dried, and really isn’t keen on walkies in cold weather! The best things about Nixie are her absolute joy in life and her total commitment to sofa snuggles!
